FARM ADVENTURES

Sheep: they need to be walked so that their muscles get stronger and bigger. Kids do not like this kind of job. It’s hot and takes a lot of muscle on their part but the bigger the muscle the more money at the fair.

Hay: it needs cut and baled and the rain needs to stop long enough for that to happen. C. Farmer Jones got done with almost all the top rows, four hours of riding and baling. Then Tyrell Farmer Jones took over to have the baler break down, Farmer Dad came home in time to help fix it and get going just in time for it to drench the field and leave Tyrell stuck out in the middle of it soaking wet. Now we wait for everything to dry out again.

Horse Riding: K. has his first horse 4-H peewee practice and we are taking cousin B. too. So much excitement, he hardly slept and was up at the crack of dawn with the other Farmer Jones in the family. You would have thought it was Christmas and all it was is a horse ride.

Grass Growing: Farmer Moms job after having a two year weed patch; because Jer’s Hospital stay caused our lawn to be neglected, is to get lawn going again. It must be watered everyday and even the weeds must be mowed to give the grass a chance but at least its green and close to the ground instead of tall and able to hide Z. in its brown scratch mess.

Update: Next blog will be camping adventures for July if I survive my next hike.
