My Hospital VACATION

What a treat Wed. after spending the whole day hiking with J. I got home and took all my scouts to the swimming pool for pack meeting. Waves of nausea start to wash over me I think I have the flu. I barely make it home and climb into bed. I really could careless what all the boys are doing and DAD will have to be in charge because I am SICK! Finally relief sometime around 3:00am all day THURSDAY I feel quezy and slow. I go to bed early and FRIDAY I wake up new women. I FEEL GREAT I start the laundry, take J. to go baby-sit, do the morning chores, and send the boys out to change the water. WILL SOMEONE PLEASE ANSWER THE STUPID PHONE? I AM SUPER SICK AGAIN. I am on the bed trying to get the boys attention. I know they are done doing the water in the field and I have my cell phone calling the house phone and they are not responding. I can hardly move I have so much pain in my gut. Alonzo calls I tell him I am really sick and he says see if you can find someone to bring you in. I hang up on him because like who, the girl without a drivers license and then how does she get back home. A few min later the boys finally clue in that the home phone won’t stop ringing and they answer, I am finally able to get them to come to me. They call DAD and convince him that Mom is really sick and can’t even move. I say “I know it’s my appendix”. He has to rearrange everything because he is the one at the hospital who is doing the surgeries right now; and he is on call all night to boot. Sure enough I get to have a vacation with the surgery crew not including my hubby because that is a conflict of interest and he doesn’t even get paid but he starts all the paperwork and the prep meds and IV stick. And the ultimo he still has to spend the weekend hanging around the hospital not getting paid but still being on call with the wife who is recovering. I have to admit the relief is wonderful and it feel tons better then when I had my c-section with Jer.. Recovery is really fast and I am just like new again. Well maybe a bit on the slow side and I can’t bend over yet the stitch spots catch still. I think I may have been having a problem since my first bout when I was preg. with Jer. and they couldn’t do anything anyway and that was about 31/2 years ago.

GIRLS HIKE 4yr level

Nervous about not being able to make it and crashing the hike can I really keep up with the girls, it’s been along time since I have hiked like this carrying my own food and bedding gear, but I guess I am game. J. and the MOM with all the other girls from Monroe stake took off over Monroe Mountain just a bit below signal peak looking at the beauty of nature, the flowers that were everywhere and the smell of Elk but not really seeing any. At one point we were right out on the rocky ledge that when you are down in the valley you can see up on the side of the mountain. Someone was brave and built an alter of rocks on the very edge of it were it is all rocky. There were the most heavenly smelling flowers up there; maybe you could smell them because there wasn’t as much pollution up above the clouds at 10, 0000.00 feet. We slept very cozy and dumped extra water as we walked back out to lighten our load. I think my hike with the family the weekend before prepped me to make it through this long hike. Sharing my testimony and camping just me and her were the best of all. I love You J. GIRL!

FAMILY CAMPING

We have waited for four summers to really do that thing called camping. We have done things like drive up and stay till its way dark or stay in hotels were we had light to get Jer.’s oxygen set up, but not in a tent in the high altitude without all the tools that tell us were he sets in oxygen saturations. BUT this is the year for that. I finally have the confidence to tell were his levels sit and know all the signs and he is really good at telling me if he needs treatments. So we packed up the car with the tents and drove a very long way up the mountains and stayed for three days and two nights simply not long enough but refreshing. I do admit that I wish we had a trailer and that I could check his sat levels a bit just to make me less nervous and because it poured rain on us one evening and soaked our tent on one side. Silver blankets work to keep wet beds warm still. He did get tired more and one morning didn’t want to get up and take the tubing off very quickly. I don’t know if it was because he wasn’t ready to play yet or if it was the oxygen level need. We hiked up to the most beautiful lake and fished, ate lunch, hiked back and cooked Dutch oven chicken. We waited forever for Tyrell to come up after work. He got lost finally making it for about two hours late Sat night but didn’t stay because Cousin Sam Owens Farwell was the next day. The last day we took the kids fishing over to a different lake and every one of them caught a fish. Of course we took them home and they learned to gut them, I cooked them with panko crumbs and butter and not one of them would taste it. That is the last time they are allowed to fish they disgrace their Indian blood by wasting what come from the earth. It was great fun but we would go more if the mom didn’t have to drag all the stuff together so after the missionary returns I think we need a trailer.
